My name is Ben Makuh. I'm an introspective pastor-turned-software engineer. I develop full-stack web applications with an eye toward performance, usability, and delight. In short, I believe technology is for people, not the other way around, and so it should be built to serve. Over the past couple years, I have been focusing on building realtime collaborative tools for editing textual and visual documents together with others. I am always learning new things, but currently I have been writing TypeScript on the back and the front with tools like Node.JS/Express/Apollo and React/Jest. In terms of databases, I'm a Postgres guy, and on the side I'm currently learning the Rust programming language. I am a co-maintainer of the True Myth library for typesafe data manipulation in TypeScript and a contributor to the Grain programming language.
As you can tell by this website, I am more than my technological work. I also enjoy reviewing books for various publishers as well as writing about life, theology, and other kinds of reflections.
